CONNECTING COMMUNITY THROUGH ART & GARDENING
"What will you cook with these herbs?"
Flavours of Glenroy was a community art project which occurred on Saturday May 17, 2014 in Post Office Place Glenroy, Victoria. The pleasure of eating and cooking good food is a universal experience bringing together all people. To celebrate the diverse food cultures of the Glenroy neighbourhood, Post Office Place will be occupied by an installation of Mobile Edible Gardens. Edible plants, mostly herbs, were handed out to the passing public in exchange for answering the simple question “What will you cook with these herbs?”. The intention of this project is to unify the local community through the common experience of food and to also create a snapshot of the diversity of local culinary practices of the suburb. The project was developed by artists Rowena Booth, Tammy Wong Hulbert and Shane Hulbert in partnership with Scope and Moreland City Council.
This event is proudly supported by Moreland City Council’s Celebrating Place Grant Program.
